R.A.T. develops and manufactures systems, special machines, and tools for the rationalization of production processes. Its core segment is the automotive supply industry, which the company serves with high-end machines for processing textile materials. These highly specialized machines produce, for example, carpets and other acoustically valuable vehicle interior components. However, R.A.T. does not only deliver innovative mechanical engineering components but sees itself as a partner for individual, comprehensive customer solutions.

### Close Cooperation with Customers
To realize customized solutions and meet client specifications optimally, R.A.T. places great importance on close cooperation with customers. The company’s flexibility is further underscored by its 24/7 service hotline, ensuring fast, reliable, and comprehensive solutions to customer problems. “In addition to optimizing production processes and implementing rationalization measures, it is essential for us to develop new solutions together with our customers and provide optimal service,” summarizes Herzog.
### All Machines Are Proprietary Developments
R.A.T.’s range of services includes plant construction, mechanical engineering, toolmaking, and fixture construction. The company primarily focuses on the development and production of thermoforming systems, presses, and tools for deep drawing textile automotive interior panels. Increasingly, recyclable or renewable raw materials such as flax, hemp, or cotton are being used. All R.A.T. systems and machines are proprietary developments.
“In all our innovations, our goal is to enable efficient production processes at an optimal price-performance ratio,” says Herzog. For example, R.A.T. has developed a new thermoforming concept that reduces production time by about 30%. “Moreover, the new system allows us to flexibly adapt the cycle time to customer requirements — for instance, for all BMW E9x models and across five different raw material groups,” adds Sales Director Thomas Hoppe. “This results in significant cost savings for our customers.”
### Highly Qualified Team
Founded in 1988, R.A.T. now employs 60 highly qualified staff members. The experienced team includes engineers, technicians, and production specialists from various disciplines. Design, construction, and assembly are carried out using modern CAD software in halls equipped specifically for large-scale machinery manufacturing. “Given the complexity of the special-purpose machinery we produce, complete team solutions are crucial for us,” notes Herzog. “Our greatest competitive advantage lies in our team’s willingness to turn flexible production solutions into reality with high interdisciplinary expertise, perfectly meeting each customer’s unique requirements.”
### Increasing International Activities
R.A.T. operates both nationally and internationally and plans to expand its presence in promising foreign markets. “We are increasingly focusing on international activities, especially in North America and Europe,” confirms Herzog. Alongside international expansion, R.A.T. aims to diversify its business portfolio horizontally. “Our main target group remains the automotive supply industry, but we also intend to further develop our potential in other sectors such as the household goods industry, wood processing, and aviation,” says Herzog. “We see excellent opportunities to conquer new markets with innovative products and flexible service.”
